Manufacturing is changing.

Higher product variety, smaller and more frequently changing batches, increasing labor costs and reduced availability of skilled operators are challenging traditional high-volume production models. At IMTS 2026, Buffoli Transfer and Buffoli North America will present a new generation of flexible, fully CNC and highly automated manufacturing systems designed to combine the productivity traditionally associated with screw machines with the flexibility required by modern manufacturing.

THE TRANSITION HAS ALREADY STARTED
For decades, screw machines have represented one of the reference technologies for high-volume production. Today, full CNC technology, integrated automation and advanced process control make it possible to rethink this manufacturing model. The objective is not simply to replace an old machine with a new one. It is to replace multiple machines, intermediate operations and operator-dependent processes with one integrated manufacturing system.

The transition is not only about automation. Modern manufacturing increasingly requires the ability to produce complex components in different materials while maintaining high productivity, precision and process stability. Buffoli has developed extensive experience in machining lead-free brass, aluminum, stainless steel and other demanding materials, through numerous applications both from bar stock and cast or forged parts. From simple high-volume components to complex precision parts, the objective remains the same: integrate more operations into a single, controlled manufacturing process.

NEW MATERIALS REQUIRE NEW MACHINING TECHNOLOGIES
Lead-free brass and stainless steel place new demands on machining processes in terms of rigidity, cutting performance, chip evacuation, coolant management, precision and surface quality. Buffoli’s technological development addresses these requirements while maintaining the productivity expected from high-volume manufacturing. This experience includes high-precision rotating-workpiece machining and advanced surface finishing, with applications developed for both bar-fed and cast or forged components.
